When I was a kid growing up in Sioux City, IA. & Jackson, MS. my favorite time of year was Christmas, followed by Halloween, 2 of my biggest scores of the year. I loved dressing up, because it was the one day a year you could be anything you wanted to be, I had a real affection for skeletons, I am sure I went as one for more than 2 years in a row. A few costumes I do remember doing from either photographs or memory: “Batman” a Pirate, “Bonz Apart” from Groovy Goolies”, a Gorilla Soldier from “Planet Of The Apes” and a “Green Ghost”. I do remember at my grandma Marge’s house, she had the masks of her children from previous decades of Halloween’s hung up in the entryway of the house this was so cool. I later tried collecting old Halloween masks. It was just too costly. This year Tiny Oblieon is going as Batman. As this is year 4 for the “PsychoGello Show” I have been running holiday special shows, so after all this time I created the “PsychoGello Halloween Show”
“Twilight Zone”: TV Theme
CBS 156 Episodes from Oct 1959 toJune 1964
The creator was born “Rod” Rodman Edward Serling: 25 Dec 1924 Syaracuse, NY – 28 June 1975.
I used to watch this show late at night in the early 70s in Sioux City. I remember when Rod died I was living in Jackson, I thought he was so young for that time.
“Black Magic Woman” Fleetwood Mac
March 1968 (#37 hit)
Music history has forgotten that Peter Green started this band all the way back in 1967 in London, Eng. seems people only remember the “Buckingham- Nicks” lineup. I saw “FWM” in July 1994 in Des Moine, Iowa when “Bekka” Rebekka Ruth Lazone Bramlett: 19 April 1968 was the lead vocalist; she is the daughter of Delaney & Bramlett, along with Dav Mason on guitar.
“Spooky” Dusty Springfield
1970 (#36 hit)
Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O’Brian 16 April 1939 London – 2 March 1999
I know this song from the band “The Classics IV” I met their singer Dennis Yost in the late 90s in Des Moines, Iowa.
“Adams Family” TV Theme
ABC for 64 Episodes Sept 1964 to April 1966
This show I used to watch in the afternoons when we lived in Billings, MT. Summer 1974. I had a chance to meet “Gomez” John Astin in Des Moines in the early 90s, but for some reason I missed out. I once gave Bruce Kulick of KISS, a birthday card with “Uncle Fester” on the front, I drew a mustache on it, and on the inside I wrote “Isn’t this your Brother Bob?”
“What Ever Happened To Eddie” 1983
“The Munsters” CBS 72 Episodes Sept 1964 to May 1966
Patrick Alan “Butch” Lilley 2 Aug 1953 Inglewood, CA.
After his TV career started to wane, he learned to play Bass Guitar and recorded this 45 Single, he went into stand-up comedy and opened for Monkee’s Peter Tork on Tork’s “New Monks 1982 Tour” I was at a party with Butch in Aug 1990 in Chicago, ILL. When I was a kid I wanted live in a house the the Munster’s house on 1313 Mockingbird Lane, this is what I tried to talk to him about that Sat. nite, he was not too interested in discussing those days. I heard he got into a bit of trouble that weekend. Remarkably I rented the exact same Apt. he lived in here in St. Paul only a few years earlier.
“Outer Limits” TV Theme
ABC 49 Episodes from Sept 1963 to Jan 1965
By far my all time favorite TV Show, I used to try to stay up late on Sat. nite’s at midnight to watch this show.
I have met several actors Robert Culp, Marion Ross, Grace Lee Whitney, Willam Shatner, Leonard Nimoy & James Doohan.
“Martian Boogie” Brownsville Station
(#59 hit) Aug 1977
This band was formed in Ann Arbor, MI. in 1969. I used to see them on “The Midnight Special”. When I lived in Miss. this was a huge hit in our area. I met their Bass Player Michale Lutz in May 1995 in Ames, Iowa.
“Werewolves of London” Warren Zevon
(#21 hit) Jan 1978
Born Warren William Zevon 24 Jan 1947 in Chicago, ILL. 7 Sept 2003
I Saw Zevon at “First Ave” Nov 2000. My favorite part of this concert was one time when he was talking to the audience he mentioned something from his past career, and said “Try to find that on your precious internet.” I loved that.
“Scary Monsters And Super Freaks” David Bowie
(#20 hit) Sep1980
He was born David Robert Jones 8 Jan 1947 London 10 Jan 2016.
I have always been a Bowie fan, so I had to include one of his songs.
“Psycho Killer” Talking Heads
(#92 hit) Dec 1977
Formed in NYC in 1975
I lived in Phoenix, when I discovered this band on the TV Show “Pop Clips” I just didn’t get it, much like “Devo”
“Purple People Eater” Micky Dolenz
1974 from an abandoned MGM album titled “I Hate Rock N Roll”
There are 4 surviving tracks from this recording session “Splish Splash” “Wing Walker” and the title track. I am mentioned in the credits for Micky Dolenz “Live In Japan” released in 2020
“Night Gallery” TV Theme
NBC for 52 Episodes Nov 1969 to June 1973
When my mom went back to work after my sister Margie, her brother Johnny was my babysitter on Saturday nights, which was really more of a “Date Night” for his girlfriend Ruth S. but before he hustled me off to bed, I would get to watch this show with him that really gave me nightmares and keep me up at night. But I loved it, another Rod Serling creation.
Future Halloween Show 2022
