> About Mr. Zer0’s <
I founded Mr. Zer0’s in March 2009, after having left another Store in MPLS. I wanted to Stock ONLY: MUSIC * MOVIES* TOYS * VIDEO GAMES* as these are the Merchandise I Love and enjoy. I wanted to have a Store where people could come in look around and enjoy Merchandise from their youth, meet In Person other people who shared the same passion as they do, then BUY these items, take them home and enjoy them in their own sanctuary. I took the name from The Monkees Episode #52 “Devil & Peter Tork” TV Show from Feb. 1968. Our Mascot was created by Jose Delbo who worked on The Beatles: “Yellow Submarine” also from 1968.
I started in the Music Biz back in 1977 selling used records off of my Mom’s Carport in Jackson Miss. Then playing guitar in 1980, working concert production in 1982. Then on the road with a Touring Band in 1983, Selling Stereos in 1984. Then Selling New Records in 1985 with several different companies from NY to LA. In 2009 I Opened Mr. Zer0’s. In 2011 I began playing in Bands again and in 2012 I hosted my 1st Radio Show. In 2014 I started booking bands for certain events. Today I Have Mr. Zer0’s 55113 Roseville after 11 Years, 3 Radi0 Shows “PsychoGello” “Evolation” “Hits And History” on 2 different stations. 3 Bands “KISSIn Time” since 2013, “MrZERo” since 2011 and “NeVeR sAy Die” since 2016

> N R S D <
Vinyl Records started gaining popularity back in 2008, This is why Mr. Zer0’s Opened in April 2009 to capitalize on The Vinyl Record Trend happening back in 2008. “National Record Store Day” Was founded in April 2008 in response to the Growing Interest in Vinyl Record Albums in 2007. Why did this happen, well it was generational; Vinyl LPs were the predominant format from 1964 to 1984, In Fall of 1987 NARM and the 6 Major Record Labels at the time: WB, Sony, UNI, BMG, EMI & Polygram Unanimously Agreed to END: 99% of All Vinyl Record Production, some Independent Labels and Special One-Time limited Releases were made, and the UK & Eastern Europe continued to make Vinyl Records, but Not the USA, it’s quite simple really almost No One wanted Vinyl Records anymore in 1987.
Then Cassette took over as the Chosen Format, As the New Music Buying Public said something to the effect of “My Mom bought Records, I Buy Cassettes” and because of Walkmans, Boom Boxes, Car Stereos and you could fit 36 cassettes in the same space it took for 5 Vinyl Records, (Cassette production Ended in 2002) until 1991 when CDs became the Format of choice, again because of Car Stereos, Boom Boxes & Walkmans, most people felt CD was a superior sound to Cassette and even Vinyl, At That Time, now the consensus seems to have changed, well until the next generation makes a choice. Then in 2000 “Napster” began to threaten CD sales, and then there was Downloading & Ipods, MP3 Players etc. Until 2007 when young people said just like the several generations before them: “My Dad did Downloading, I Buy Records”
Today there is a “N R S D” in April and Again in November of each year (except this disaster of a year 2020) Where there is a Limited Pressing of Certain Records, by only Certain Artists. In the beginning Production Numbers were usually Limited to 300 to 500, maybe a 1000, I have heard that today there may be as many as 5000 made world wide of certain titles. A miniscule amount when compared to back in the day, say; 1991 when Garth Brooks sold 3 million of just One Of His CD Titles. That’s a -99.5% reduction in pieces production.
